Church of St. John the Baptist
The church of St. John the Baptist, built at the end of the 10th century in the late Renaissance style, dominates the horizon with its breathtaking dome. This dome, decorated with bright green, yellow, and blue majolica tiles, stands out against the sky, catching the sunlight and creating a shimmering effect visible from afar.
The interior of the church welcomes visitors with a Latin cross floor plan, embellished with a 17th-century coffered ceiling in pure gold.
One of the artistic marvels is the 16th-century polyptych, attributed to Andrea Sabatino, depicting the Marian Mysteries with the Virgin in the central position. This extraordinary masterpiece, with its complex iconography and refined details, is a fine example of religious art and a symbol of Marian devotion.
