Basilica of St. Eustace
Going down the ancient stairs that connect Minuta to the Pontone district, you will reach the remains of the Basilica of Sant'Eustachio. Once splendid and majestic, it was commissioned in the 10th century by the noble D'Afflitto family, who made it one of the architectural jewels of southern Italy. The basilica, in the shape of a Greek cross, is divided into three naves, each supported by eight marble columns with finely carved capitals. The façade, whose refined beauty can still be seen today, reveals its history with a triangular top decorated with interlaced arch motifs.
The scenery surrounding these remains is imbued with a timeless magic, where landscape and history intertwine in an almost tangible atmosphere.
