Gavitella cove
Not far from the center of Vettica Maggiore, descending towards the sea, are the cliffs of Torre di Grado (a tower built by the Spaniards during the viceroyalty) and the beach of Gavitella, in the bay of the same name, with a landing stage, bathing establishments, and restaurants. Gavitella is the only beach on the Amalfi Coast that is illuminated by the sun until sunset, thanks to its favorable western position with a view of Positano, Capri, and the Island of Li Galli.
Near Gavitella, there is the “Fontana dell’Altare”, a natural pool carved out of the cavern of a cave. From the beach, it is possible to visit the coast by sea, to reach Marina di Praia and the secluded beach “Le Praie”. In this latter cove, the vegetation and the rocks seem to reach the limpid waters of the sea. The panorama from this place is magnificent.
