The beaches and the Torre a Mare
One of the most fascinating aspects of Praiano is its deep connection with the sea. Its beaches, such as Marina di Praia and Cala della Gavitella, are true jewels hidden among the rocks. In Marina di Praia, on the tip of the promontory, stands the Torre a Mare, built in the 13th century, a reminder of the times when Praiano was a strategic lookout point against pirates or raiders. Its cylindrical shape with a steep base reflects the defensive needs of the time.
On the beach of Cala della Gavitella, the sun seems to stay longer, as if to prolong its greeting to the sea. Here, the sun kisses the coast until its last ray, giving rise to sunsets that set the sky on fire, among the most romantic of the Amalfi Coast. Not far away, at sunset, the waters of the Suppraiano Cave and the Africana Cave take on magical colors, reflecting the last rays of the day. These caves, accessible only by sea, offer a unique experience, revealing a secret and unspoiled corner of the coast, where man is a respectful guest of nature.
