Marina of Praia
The lower part of Praiano extends to the Marina di Praia, the only landing place accessible by car in the ancient Plagianum, with its beach carved between two high rocky walls, at the mouth of the rugged Vallone di Praia. The marina is watched over by the Torre a Mare (dating back to the 1500s) on the promontory, and below it, the enchanting path of the Scogliera di Praia (Praia Cliffs), named “Place of the Heart” by the FAI. Along this suggestive little road, it is possible to admire the coast as far as Conca dei Marini, the Praiano coast, and at the bottom, the Isca rock.
Today Marina di Praia is a popular seaside resort, with restaurants where you can taste excellent fresh fish, hotels, and bathing establishments. With short boat trips, it is also possible to visit the surrounding coastline, in particular the suggestive Suppraiano Caves, Grotta dell’Africana, and reach Cala della Gavitella, the cliffs of Torre di Grado, and the lonely beach “Le Praie”.
