The Naturarte Project
The true essence of Praiano is revealed to those who choose to explore it at leisure, following its enchanting paths. Like every village on the Amalfi Coast, Praiano is ideal for urban trekking. The NaturArte project, designed to blend art and nature, guides visitors through eight extraordinary itineraries. Its 150 ceramic and stone sculptures, skillfully integrated into the landscape, create an itinerary that encourages reflection and celebrates the harmony between art and the environment.
Walking along these paths, you can reach the Church of Santa Maria a Castro – Convent of San Domenico (1599), located 364 meters above sea level, overlooking the valley below and offering a breathtaking panoramic view of the valley. Praiano NaturArte has transformed Praiano into an open-air museum, positioning it in the artistic tourism circuit with the connotation of a city of ceramic art.
The eight ceramic artists and sculptors (among whom Paolo Sandulli, Sandro Mautone, and Lucio Liguori stand out) have distributed along the most frequented pedestrian routes a series of works related to local culture, traditions, and mythology, conceived in such a way as to dialogue with the natural environment that hosts them, without distorting it, but rather enriching it in a harmonious way.
