The Monazzeni and the Fjord of Furore
Near the small harbor of Furore, you can admire the “monazzeni”, ancient warehouses of fishing equipment that bear witness to a seafaring tradition. Inside the fjord are the “Stenditoio”, once used for drying paper, and the “Calcara”, used for working stone. Walking through the characteristic streets of the village, it is easy to discover the fantastic murals, works of Italian and foreign artists who have contributed to give new life to the village. Thanks to these artistic interventions, Furore has become part of the Italian Association of Painted Villages.
Every year, the Fjord Bridge hosts the World High Diving Championships, transforming itself into a breathtaking stage. The Fjord of Furore is the jewel in the crown of eco-tourism, an example of travel that respects and celebrates nature. It is home to the Ecomuseum, a fundamental project for the recovery and enhancement of ancient structures such as mills and water systems that tell the story of centuries past. The museum not only preserves the historical heritage, but also promotes sustainable tourism, offering visitors an authentic immersion in the beauty and tradition of this unique corner of the Amalfi Coast.
