The village of Nocelle and the Path of the Gods

Following the mountain paths, one reaches Nocelle, the oldest hamlet of Positano. Nocelle is also the starting point of the Sentiero degli Dei, one of the most fascinating trails in the area. A route of about 8 km that connects Bomerano to Nocelle and offers spectacular views. It was once the only link between the small towns in the area, before the Bourbons built the coastal road. The path hugs the cliffs overlooking the sea, amidst the intense scents of the Mediterranean maquis, offering breathtaking views. To walk in such a sublime place, suspended between the sea and the mountains, is a privilege that every hiker should experience.

Ancient legends tell that the Greek gods walked these lands to save Ulysses from the bewitching song of the Sirens. Their footsteps, descending to earth, traced what we now call the Path of the Gods. It is not surprising that the name is so evocative: along the way one truly enjoys a divine landscape. Italo Calvino described it as “that road that hovers over the magical gulf of the Sirens, still plowed by memory and myth”.

The path gradually descends towards the valley, reaching a height of 450 meters. Along this path, which for centuries was a simple mule track, you can still see people transporting fruit and vegetables on their mules' backs. Along the way, you can discover ancient rural buildings, witnesses of a past life, and admire the colors and scents typical of the Amalfi Coast.
