Li Galli Archipelago
Off the coast of Positano, to the south of the Sorrentine peninsula and not far from Capri, your eyes wander to the horizon, where the water is a deep cobalt blue and nature is wild. This is the Li Galli archipelago, made up of three legendary islands. The largest, Gallo Lungo, resembles the elegant profile of a dolphin from above. The Rotonda and the Castelluccia, also known as the Island of the Briganti, complete this unspoiled landscape. The islands are surrounded by silence and the constant sound of the waves breaking on the rocks.
According to tradition, these islands were home to mythological sirens. Their enchanting voices lured sailors into dangerous currents, causing terrible shipwrecks. Only two ships, that of Ulysses and that of the Argonauts, escaped this fate. The name "Li Galli" recalls the Greek iconography in which the sirens were depicted as beings with the body of a woman and the head of a bird, giving this place an eternal charm.
In 1924, the archipelago caught the attention of the famous dancer Léonide Massine, who bought it and turned it into an artistic haven. Years later, another dancing legend, Rudolf Nureyev, became its owner. This piece of paradise has continued to enchant the great names of cinema and international high society. The pristine beauty of these places remains an exclusive experience, reserved for those privileged enough to discover it.
As we leave the crystal waters of Li Galli, our gaze is lost in the vastness of the horizon. At nightfall, when the sky glows orange and the sea turns to liquid gold, Positano becomes a daydream. The lights of the village come up one after the other, like stars coming down to rest on the hills, while the whole world holds its breath, enraptured by its enchanting beauty.
